Roland "Rolly" Alinea Sobrepeña: 13 April 1937 - 25 Jan 2009

"Roland [Rolly to his friends at SRF Subic] was born in a small town called Cabangan, Zambales in the Philippines. Of late, he was a long time resident of Los Alamitos, California.

His parents were Fredric Madarang Sobrepeña and Ester Ferrer Alinea who loved him dearly.

He was a responsible young man and took care of his siblings at an early age to assist them in pursuing their education.

He met Emelinda De Guzman Liwanag through a mutual friend and it was love at first sight. At the age of 27, on December 19, 1973, he then married her and had 3 daughters, Emmaruth, Everette and Elanor.

He was the only thorn among the roses and very proud of it. He loved to sing, dance, joke around and most especially be with his family and friends. He was a GREAT man and will truly be missed by the ones who knew him and loved him."

Rolly has worked with Shop 67 and one of the pioneers at Module Section [at the old NEAC Phil], according to Ved Reyes before moving on to PSD as a progressman.

Our condolences and prayers to Rolly's wife, children and friends.

Rolly is one of those people who always has a smile in his face, a very jolly person and as a Progressman, full of kuwento. This is the Rolly I will always remember.

Regards,

Mario Baylon Jr and family

I saw Rolly's last SRF reunion picture and I said to my self that his looks didn't change much.

Little did I knew that he was very ill then. He was the first to call me "ReyVic" and I used that name in some of my web user ID.

I remember him as a very friendly and always smiling guy.

May Rolly Rest In Peace.

Regards,

Rey Victoria

I am writing to pass on the sad news of Rolly's passing this morning at 12:06 am.

Funeral arrangements are not yet clear and I will pass the information on once that is available.

When I called last Wednesday, his sister who flew from Okinawa said that Rolly has been restless and did not want to eat or take his medication. He went into coma later in the week.

I am just glad that we were all able to visit him before his passing. I know that he enjoyed the reunion and was glad to see all of us. Please include him in your prayers.

Thanks,

Baby Medina

Hi Bro Rollie, sorry to hear about your upcoming fight. Its been a long time since we have talked, this is John T. from your SRF days.

I'd like to hear from you when ever you feel up to it. I'm still here at the farm, just older.

Please write when you can and just kick ass in the fight.

I am Ed Angeles and I worked with Rollie as Ship Sup while stationed in Subic SRF. Deeply saddened just to find out by accident that a very good man and as well a friend has passed away. We shared lots of laughs and San Miguels together and I miss him so much. My belated condolence to Emmie and the kids, our prayers are with you.
